The following is a sample outline of what information is included in a
patient's maturational report.

If at this time you wish to send GrowthTek your patient's hand-wrist and
cephalometric (optional) x-rays, print out a Patient Report Order Form

The following patient data is mailed to GrowthTek together with the x-rays

                                                               Maxillary and mandibular growth
estimations will be included in the
                                                    report if a cephalometric x-ray
is also forwarded to GrowthTek along
with the hand-wrist x-ray. If you
wish, the measurements will be done
by GrowthTek.  There is no extra
                                                    cost for this additional information.

The following is a sample multi-paged patient report
that would be mailed back to you

The patient's maturational age is determined:

Maturational (skeletal) age is determined by assessing both the patient's
stage and level of maturation.  The stage of maturation is determined  by
evaluating skeletal maturity indicators (SMIs) identified on the
hand-wrist x-ray.

As seen above, by identifying the stage of maturation, the patient's current
growth velocity period of development can be determined.  This is of clinical
significance since the success of many treatment modalities depends on
good timing relative to the unique developmental patterns of the patient.
Twenty-three skeletal maturiity indicators (SMIs) are utilized within the
System of Skeletal Maturation Assessment covering the late childhood to
adulthood periods of development.

As seen above, the maturational level can vary considerably relative to the
patient's chronologic (birth) age.  This is also of particular significance if
treatment timing is to be optimized for the patient.  For instance, a delayed
(older) maturer will demonstrate more late growth than an advanced (younger)
maturer even though the same maturational stage of development is exhibited
for both individuals.  The time periods between the stages of development
and the percentages of total growth completed vary significantly.

Estimation of maturational timing:

Based on the patient's maturational age ( stage + level ), estimations of
the timing of future growth can be calculated.  This information allows the
clinician to correlate the nature of the treatment with the expected growth schedule.  The times of increasing velocity, peak velocity, decreasing velocity
and facial growth termination can be applied.  Every child demonstrates their
own unique maturational profile.  The chronologic calendar of future growth is
demonstrated along with expected developing variations in the maturational level
( advanced vs. average vs. delayed ).

Estimations of future maxillary and mandibular growth :

Based on the patient's maturational age ( stage + level ), estimations of
the skeletal amounts of future growth can be calculated for the patient..
The percentages of total facial growth completed and the related amounts
of actual maxillary and mandibular growth are estimated.  This information
combined with the previous chronologic schedule of future growth allows
the clinician to rationally formulate a more logical treatment plan.

Clinical applications :

The maturational report includes specific treatment time recommendations for your patient.  The recommendations are based on the patient's unique maturational profile.  Time of treatment guidelines are supplied for :

Headgear    Face-mask    Surgery    Functional appliance
                 Herbst appliance        Maxillary expansion

Please note: It is not the intention of this report to diagnose or treatment
plan your patient.  It is the intention of this report to provide pertinent
information that could be helpful with the diagnostic decision making process
relative to treatment timing.  Variations from the data presented in this
report can exist for many reasons such as factors related to nutrition, health,
pregnancy and racial background.  The responsibility of all multi-factorial
treatment decisions remains solely with the clinician(s) in charge.
